Such a weird feeling.
The tragedy that happened in Oklahoma today is so incredibly shocking and sad. When you hear about things like this on the news, they are always devastating..But they never feel very personal until they actually hit you close to home.
I grew up in Oklahoma and had hung out with friends and went to places that are simply gone now.
The weird thing is I’m living here in Japan now as all this is happening.
A part of me feels so blessed to be here, and like my dreams are coming true. At the same time, my heart is so heavy for everyone back home. Oklahoma is such a community oriented culture. People really love each other and help each other when in need.
I can remember in my hometown, if someone had cancer or serious sickness, the whole community would have some kind of benefit/event just to raise money to help those people pay their hospital bills.
This is true community. Something that you don’t always have this kind of mutual understanding and love in urban areas.
As much as I love Tokyo and what it has to offer, I will always cherish where I grew up. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of ya’ll back home. I would ask that people who follow my tumblr to pray as well.
It is easy to feel comfortable and safe in a very convenient modernized world. But today is a personal reminder for me that we never know how long we have on this earth. Hug those close to you and tell them you love them today. Sorry to have such a heavy/sad/long post. Just sharing my thoughts here. Thank you all for your support and prayers for people in Oklahoma.
